Nguyen Van Phu was formerly the Managing Editor of Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon (a publication of the Saigon Times Group). He has been a journalist for more than 25 years, starting with Vietnam Investment Review since its establishment as Vietnam's first English-language business newspaper in 1991. He was a columnist for Vietnam News for ten years, writing its weekly column "Business Beat".
He joined the Saigon Times Group in 1997 and worked for several of its publications as Managing Editor for the Saigon Times Daily, an English-language daily newspaper and as Managing Editor for Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon, a weekly business newsmagazine.
Phu is the author and translator of several books on the English language and on business management. Phu is also a member of Executive Board of the Saigon Times Foundation and Permanent Vice Director of VAPEC – Ho Chi Minh City.
